Hello 2023

NIFF is storming into 2023 with pep in the step. But before we stare lovingly into the future, let’s throw a quick gaze on our wrap out of 2022.

Successful Sustainability

We are thrilled that we had the pleasure of hosting so many filmmakers this year. This also means that we had a lot of CO2 to compensate for.

NIFF have partnered with Cool Effect for many years, and for 2022, we selected

Breath of Fresh Air

Honduras

This project constructs cookstoves in rural homes that provide clean air and health benefits to the families.

“Cooking in Central America relies on traditional stoves that burn significant amounts of local wood and emit smoke into the home. The stoves are on for eight hours a day and when cooks stand directly over stoves to cook the family tortillas, they breath the smoke that covers the kitchen roofs and walls in soot.

The installation of a new stove reduces carbon monoxide and particulate matter in the home by 79%, and the project is applicable to 10 UN sustainable development goals.”

För-Älskad | Pre-Loved

The NIFF audience sure knows what to wear to an event, and with the success of our Pre-Loved campaign this year, we know that we have found a new permanent fixture. We loved getting to share our new found love with Vogue Scandinavia.

For all NIFF events, we encourage our team and guests to wear something already in your closet, vintage, thrifted or borrowed. By avoiding purchasing new items for a once-only wear, we can help minimize the effect that the fashion industry has on the environment. In addition, all fabric used at NIFF gets donated for textile recycling.

Network and Chill

We loved hosting our lounge at Scandinavia House’s Volvo Hall, and as our attending filmmakers seemed to have loved it as much as we did - count on this coming back for 2023!

A brand new site

We are turning 9 years old, and we needed a little update. A fun new addition is our Nordic New York calendar, showing all things Nordic happening in the city. Are you hosting something you want us to share? Just send us a message!
