Nordic International Film Festival

Nordic International Film Festival (NIFF) is based in New York City at the renowned Scandinavia House on Park Avenue, also known as The Nordic Center. The festival celebrates Nordic and international films annually. NIFF strives to find new and upcoming independent films as well as honoring great work from already established filmmakers. We screen our nominated films in our official selection at a grand theater inside the Nordic Center for the press, distribution, filmmakers and general admitted audience hoping to create a cultural hub for Nordic and International filmmakers to meet and begin collaborations for future projects and to support independent film in New York City.

NIFF's programmers focus on finding diverse independent films with strong characters and storylines and encourage all filmmakers to submit their films, regardless of ethnicity, religion or worldview. One part of our program highlights Nordic classic themes found in old Nordic productions. We welcome and judge all films equally and with great respect and consideration. Please take the Bechdel Test into consideration.

NIFF’s screenings and panels, at Scandinavia House on Park Avenue in New York began on October 31st, 2015. The main Gala event with NIFF’s red carpet, covered by major press
and hosted by Jacob A Ware (Boardwalk Empire) was held on November 1st and was followed the second year by host Björn Gustafsson. The Tony Award winning actor known for 1984 on Broadway and Netflix’s House of Card’s Reed Birney Hosted NIFF 2017. Main screenings, sit downs, Q and A’s took place on all 3 days.
